inspired style jeans teacup wind spindle personal fashion outfit ideas inspiration prompt

Today is the first installment of the Inspired Style series, where I use a prompt to inspire an outfit. The prompt I pulled was to style an outfit inspired by Jessica of Jeans and a Teacup.

This was the perfect beginning to show you how this series will work. I’ve followed Jessica for a couple of years, and I love her personal style. We tend to wear a lot of similar colors and there is a fair overlap in our tastes so this outfit wasn’t a stretch at all.

Once I pulled the prompt I began to break down elements of Jessica’s style. She wears a lot of autumnal colors and neutrals, cropped length pants (either wide leg or tapered/skinny), and plenty of blazers. She often wears ankle boots, minimal jewelry, and small bags.

Since I have several of these items in my wardrobe, I decided to use a particular outfit as my starting point. I settled on this corduroy suit she wore this past fall.

My look is a twist on this casual corduroy suit while still keeping in some of the key elements of Jessica’s style. I have a pair of deep red corduroy pants and a matching blazer for an autumnal suit. Instead of a plain tee I chose a black Swiss dot top, and accessorized with a vintage style bag and minimal jewelry. (The jewelry isn’t in the full outfit shots because I forgot I hadn’t put it on.)

As a whole, I think this was a good example of how you can take elements of someone’s style and use that inspiration to find outfits in your own wardrobe.

If you don’t follow Jessica’s blog or Instagram, give her a follow!

You look lovely. The outfit is a winner. I like your hair in that style.

Thank you, Marilyn! It’s the most common way I wear my hair, actually. XD
