The idea of this shoot came in a round about way. I am part of a photography group on facebook and someone posted a photo challenge using paper. I originally came up with an origami option (which will hopefully make it into a future shoot, it’s an awesome idea), but realized I didn’t have the time or patience to create what I needed to within two weeks. At some point I connected an idea I had of shooting with ripped paper to shooting through ripped frames in book pages. It was far easier to manage and put together than the origami, so I decided it was a go.
I had a joy shooting with Alana. We were swarmed by mosquitoes the entire time but she was a totaly trooper and we got some magnificent shots. I had a few different ideas for the page theme, but I settled on someone reading. It’s a bit meta-someone looking at someone reading a book through a book page, but I loved the results.
