style philosophy fashion code white dress blush moto jacket rose gold headband

A few months into my first year blogging I noticed that I approached my personal style differently than other people. I tried to adapt to other methods, but realized that I was too deeply rooted in my own style philosophies to change.

Blogging has helped me to study and explore my beliefs about personal style, beauty, and fashion in general. There are ten principles that make up the core of my philosophy, and guide how and why I blog about personal style the way I do. So here are the ten principles of style that I call my style code.

The Style Code

  1. Play is the most vital tool of style.
  2. A well-designed piece of clothing promotes the one who wears it. A poorly-designed piece of clothing only flaunts itself.
  3. Neutrals are colors.
  4. Style is a language. What you say and how you say it matters.
  5. Contentment and creativity are the foundations of every good closet.
  6. Confidence is an internal conviction that transforms the external, not an outward action to prove an inward conviction.
  7. Nothing that you own has to look or be expensive.
  8. You don’t need to apologize for not wearing makeup.
  9. If it was in style once, it will probably be in style again.
  10. Buy thoughtfully. Buy well.
